  Laser Therapy

Low level laser therapy (LLLT) has been investigated and applied clinically for more than 30 years. It has been proven to suppress harmful inflammation via reduced PGE2 levels (inflammatory marker), provide short-term pain relief, significantly reduced pain in the chronic joint disorders, and accelerate tissue healing times. Because of these attributes, LLLT has become an extremely popular and effective treatment option in pain management clinics across the world.

Tissue ischemia as a result of inflammation, edema and injury have been shown to have a significantly higher response to laser therapy output power, wavelength and power density than normal, healthy tissue. The biological response includes DNA/RNA synthesis, increased cAMP levels, protein and collagen synthesis and cellular proliferation. These reactions lead to rapid normalization, regeneration and healing of damaged tissues.

Cornwall Spine Care Plus is equipped with both the powerful Class IV therapeutic laser and the renowned Meditech Bioflex Laser System. Both laser units are highly effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, arthritis, sports injuries, and wound healing. Scientific literature from peer-reviewed Journals show that laser therapy provides successful outcomes with the following conditions:

Lower back pain (chronic and acute)
Neck pain (chronic and acute)
Rotator cuff repair pain (post surgical)
Hip and leg pain
Elbow and arm pain
Plantar fasciitis/fasciosis

Laser therapy has the potential to improve tissue repair (i.e. skin wounds, muscle, tendon, ligament, bone, or nerve tissue damage), reduce inflammation and inhibit pain wherever the beam is applied. Treatments take anywhere from 2-60 minutes per session.
